The Philosophy
Less,
but better.
Most body oils are formulated cheaply because they are not expected to do much. Most face oils refuse to be anywhere near the body because the brand wants you to buy two products.
We made one oil that is good enough for both — and for everywhere in between. The luxury here is not in the number of ingredients. It is in the absence of compromise.
The Craft
The Slow Infusion
Most brands use a marigold “extract” — a concentrated compound produced through solvent processing, then dropped into a base oil at the manufacturing stage. We do the opposite, and the slower way.
Whole, dried Calendula officinalis flowers are placed into rice bran oil and left to steep for weeks. The fat-soluble actives gradually release into the oil — flavonoids, carotenoids, faradiol — turning the base deep gold and carrying the identity of the whole flower into every drop.
This is craft, not chemistry. It is more expensive and slower than buying an extract, which is precisely why most brands don't do it.
The Science
Active Architecture
Six ingredients. Each chosen for what it does — and for the fact that it does many things at once.
Whole Marigold Flower Infusion
Calendula officinalis
Mechanism. Whole calendula flowers slow-infused into rice bran oil over weeks, releasing fat-soluble flavonoids, carotenoids, and triterpenoids — including faradiol, the compound documented for wound-healing and anti-inflammatory activity. This is a traditional craft technique, not a synthetic extract dissolved into oil.
Outcome. Calms inflammation, supports tissue repair, and adds the golden colour and natural antioxidant load of the whole flower.
Rice Bran Oil — the infusion base
Oryza sativa bran oil
Mechanism. Contains gamma-oryzanol — a unique compound with both antioxidant and natural UV-absorbing properties. Lightweight, fast-absorbing, and one of the most barrier-friendly carrier oils in cosmetic chemistry.
Outcome. Protective antioxidant carrier with rapid absorption and no surface residue.
Jojoba
Simmondsia chinensis
Mechanism. Technically a liquid wax ester rather than an oil — the closest botanical match to human sebum. Suitable for every part of the body that produces sebum: face, scalp, beard, and skin.
Outcome. Biocompatible nourishment that respects the body's natural lipid composition.
High-Oleic Sunflower Oil
High-Oleic Helianthus annuus
Mechanism. Specifically the high-oleic variety, with significantly more oxidative stability than standard sunflower oil. Rich in vitamin E and oleic acid for sustained, even-feeling moisture.
Outcome. Lasting hydration with a silky, non-greasy finish.
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil
Anthemis nobilis
Mechanism. Contains chamazulene and α-bisabolol — sesquiterpenes with documented anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing activity. Distinct from German chamomile, with a softer, more apple-like aromatic profile.
Outcome. Calms reactive skin and grounds the senses.
Lavender Essential Oil
Lavandula angustifolia
Mechanism. Linalool and linalyl acetate — two of the most studied calming aromatic compounds in plant chemistry, with documented effects on the nervous system as well as the skin.
Outcome. Aromatherapeutic calm and gentle skin support.
Patchouli Essential Oil
Pogostemon cablin
Mechanism. Contains patchoulol — a sesquiterpene with documented grounding effect, deepening the aromatic complexity and lengthening the scent profile beyond the lighter florals.
Outcome. Sensory grounding and aromatic depth.

At Aphora Botanicals
Your skin is one organ.
Treat it like one.
The same lipid layer that needs supporting on your face is the same lipid layer on your shoulders, your shins, your scalp. The skincare industry has built an entire economy around pretending otherwise.
Head to Toe is built to the same fresh-batch, anhydrous, biocompatible standard as the rest of the Aphora range — which means it is good enough for the face that demands the most refined care, and generous enough to be used everywhere else too.
Made for those who recognise the difference.
The Ritual
How to Use
- One
Warm a few drops between your palms.
Cup your hands to your face and inhale deeply. Let the chamomile, lavender, and patchouli mark the moment.
- Two
Apply to damp skin.
Massage into the skin straight after bathing — damp skin absorbs lipid-soluble actives more efficiently.
- Three
Smooth through hair and beard.
A drop or two on dry hair ends adds softness and shine. Pat into a beard for definition. Massage into the scalp the night before a wash.
- Four
Use it everywhere it's needed.
Cuticles before bed. Soles of the feet under cotton socks. Pulse points as a botanical perfume. The ritual extends as far as you do.
The Face Ritual
The Aphora Face Architecture
Head to Toe takes care of everywhere else. These are the products built for the face.
What's Not in Head to Toe
Clean by formulation, not by claim.

Questions
What People Ask About Head to Toe
Yes — and the question reveals how strange the skincare industry has become. Your skin is one organ. The same lipid layer that needs supporting on your face is the same lipid layer on your shoulders, your shins, and your scalp. Most body oils are formulated cheaply because they are not expected to do much. Most face oils refuse to be anywhere near the body because the brand wants you to buy two products. TERRA Glow Head to Toe is built to the same fresh-batch, anhydrous, biocompatible standard as the rest of the Aphora range — which means it is good enough for the face that demands the most refined care, and generous enough to be used everywhere else too.
An extract is usually a concentrated active compound, often produced through solvent extraction or chemical processing, then added to a carrier oil at the formulation stage. An infusion is fundamentally different — and slower. We place whole, dried calendula flowers into rice bran oil and leave them to steep over weeks. The fat-soluble actives in the flowers — flavonoids, carotenoids, faradiol — gradually release into the oil, turning it deep gold. The result is a base oil that already carries the calendula identity before we ever add the next ingredient. This is craft, not chemistry. It is also more expensive and slower than buying a synthetic extract, which is precisely why most brands don't do it.
No. The blend is built around lightweight, fast-absorbing oils — jojoba (a wax ester that mimics sebum), rice bran (with the lightest molecular weight of any cosmetic oil), and high-oleic sunflower (silky and non-residue). It absorbs in under 60 seconds on damp skin and rinses cleanly out of hair when used as a pre-wash treatment. The trick is to apply to damp skin (after bathing) rather than dry — the residual water helps the oil spread thin and absorb evenly.
The essential oil concentration in Head to Toe is deliberately low and uses three of the most well-tolerated essential oils in aromatherapy: Roman chamomile (used for sensitive skin including infant care in many traditions), lavender (gentle and broadly tolerated), and patchouli (very low irritation profile). The blend is suitable for most sensitive skin types, though as with anything, we recommend a patch test first. If you have a known essential oil sensitivity, this product may not be the right choice — try our anhydrous face oils instead.
On the ends of the hair, yes. A drop or two warmed between palms and smoothed through dry ends adds softness, sheen, and protection without weighing the hair down. For the scalp, we recommend treating it as a weekly or twice-weekly ritual — massage a slightly more generous amount into the scalp the night before a wash, leave overnight, and shampoo out in the morning. Daily scalp application can build up over time even with a lightweight oil.
Head to Toe is the body counterpart to your face ritual. Your face is cared for by the daily ritual — Rose Bloom & Balance to cleanse, Rose Tonic Mist to balance, PROTECT or RECOVERY to treat, Lumé to seal. Head to Toe is what extends that care to the rest of you: your body after bathing, your hair, your beard, your cuticles, your feet at night. It is the full-body extension of the same considered formulation philosophy.
