Aphora Botanicals

Composed for the skin,
not the shelf.

A barrier-first botanical skincare brand — formulated to the evidence, dosed for what the skin can receive, for the chapter it's actually in.

The Formulator

Aphora began in a kitchen — Fay searching for gentle, effective care for her son's eczema-prone skin. What she blended from cold-pressed botanical oils, Australian clays, and pure essential oils actually worked. That was the beginning.

What followed was years of formulating, reading, and revising — against clinical dermatology research, the barrier-repair tradition founded by Professor Albert M. Kligman, and the emerging science of the skin barrier and microbiome. Aphora today is one philosophy applied across a range: barrier-first, evidence-required, composed for what the skin can actually receive.

Fay is fifty-nine and postmenopausal. She formulates for the skin she has now — the skin that has stopped producing on its own what it once did — and for the women whose skin has changed the same way. The principles she formulates by are exactly what this skin biologically needs.

Aphora belongs to a wider shift in beauty — from aesthetic-perfection to physiological wellness. Nervous system. Inflammation. Recovery. Longevity. The substance has been here all along; the language is only now catching up.

What Aphora Is

The Four Commitments

Every product we make, every article we publish, every decision about what to add and what to leave out — all of it routed through these four.

Barrier-first

We formulate for the outermost layer that holds everything else in place. Every choice supports what the skin can already do, rather than trying to override it.

Evidence-required

Barrier lipids at physiological ratios. Non-aggressive turnover. No aesthetic shortcuts. If the science doesn't hold, we don't formulate with it.

Composed, not decorated

Fewer ingredients, dosed for what the skin can actually receive. No fillers, no fragrance for its own sake, no ten-step ritual. The ritual is the intervention.

Physiological, not aesthetic

Pro-barrier, not anti-anything. Composed for the biology — nervous system, inflammation, recovery, longevity — not for what looks fixed in a mirror.

The Ritual

Three products.
One barrier-first ritual.

Composed together for the specific skin of this chapter — and for skin at every age.
